About us
You don't have to start from scratch.
Methods, tools and practices already tested by people who do this work. Gathered here so you don't have to reinvent them.
40 years of AKF work in PortugalFour questions, four answers. Open the ones that interest you.
How often have you faced a challenge with no ready answer? Have you ever known where you wanted to get to, but not been sure of the best way there?
That is where the difference is made: when there is room to discover, explore, experiment, collaborate and adjust course.
For more than four decades, the Aga Khan Foundation Portugal has done exactly that. It tests approaches together with partners and communities, refines solutions, evolves with experience, produces knowledge and turns it into action. A path built on the ground, in areas such as community development, education, diversity, inclusion, employability, and the voice and participation of older people.
More than 40 years of work leave behind tested practice. That is what you will find here.
This is not a collection of good intentions. These are methodologies proven in demanding contexts, tools that kept creating value beyond the life of their projects, and lessons drawn from mistakes worth avoiding.
Knowledge that stays locked inside an organisation changes nothing. That is why K'CIDADE Academy exists.
It may not fit every case. But it can give you the push you need to reach a solution that works, faster.

K'CIDADE Academy brings together methods, tools and practices that grew out of the work of practitioners, organisations and communities — and that have been refined over years of real use.
None of this was written behind a desk. Every resource has been through someone who tried it in a real context, found where it fell short and improved it.
It was developed with the Aga Khan Foundation Learning Hub and goes beyond this platform: it brings together several learning tools, and this is one of them.
The principle is simple. If someone has already solved this, it shouldn't have to be solved again.

Choose what interests you — each point opens with the details.
The platform offers resources, learning pathways and practical tools. Many came from practitioners, organisations and communities who built them and kept improving them over the years.
The problem with any library is knowing where to start. That is why there is an assistant that asks the right questions, understands the context you work in and suggests what may be relevant to you — not to everyone.
From there it proposes a pathway and offers pointers on how to apply that knowledge on the ground.
When a practice leaves the organisation where it was born and is adapted by another, it stops serving one place and starts serving many. That is how a good idea becomes change at scale.
K'CIDADE Academy exists to shorten that path — in both directions. What you take from here is yours; what comes from using it on the ground may one day serve others too.
This is not just a repository of resources. It is also where you meet practitioners and organisations with challenges similar to yours.
It is a place to compare approaches, discuss honestly what isn't working and leave the conversation with something to try the following week.
Hover over each card — or tap it on your phone — to see who it includes.
Bring the problem you're working on.
Create an account and the assistant will help you find where to start. You can save pathways and talk to people doing the same work.

K'CIDADE Academy is an initiative of the Aga Khan Foundation Portugal, developed with the support of the Aga Khan Foundation Learning Hub.
